They Wanted to be Found, I am Sure. 28 March 2017

I awoke about 4 and was not in a good spot. I continually wonder if I am doing the right research in the time I have.  After prayer, and reading from The Book of Mormon, I tried to sleep again--and it just was not working.

I got up and started looking for the marriage of my 4th great-grandparents.  I was a little confused over which set I was looking for, but I decided I would begin at 1780 and work my way back--and there they were:  28 January 1780.  Hans Jochen and Maria Dorthie.  Almost immediately I hit a conflict.  The 1819 Mecklenburg Census seemed to indicate that Maria Dorthis was born in 1732--which would have put her at 48 when she first married and when her first child was born!  Just not likely--but having found no birth record so far, that is what the record seemed to indicate.

At the Library I asked several people to look at the record, and to everyone the numeral looked like a 3.  But in the afternoon I asked someone else to take a look.  In the meantime I had noticed that there was a "5" on that census page--and there seemed to be a bit of a resemblance.  This experienced sister agreed it looked like a 3--but when I showed her the 5, we both noticed that, despite missing the top stoke, the numeral did not have the middle indention, so we concur that it is a 5.  Instead of getting married at 48, my ancestor married at 28--much more likely.  Now, where or whether I will find her birth record is an unknown, but at least I will not be looking 20 years too soon!

My Sweetheart texted me with some good news about our wedding--things are falling into place, despite some glitches.

Today was study group--we checked out records from South Africa.  Next week we will be bumped up to 2nd floor, and we will add a new member.  Three of us are leaving within 3 months, so things will be different.  I have certainly learned a lot in the 9 months we have been meeting, and I know others have, also.

I went to the temple late this afternoon, and did a session for one of my third great-grandmothers.  She was one I had released from temple file a few weeks ago.

I am slowly gathering things to take on my trip to Arizona.  I am hoping to have a nice visit.
